Kings Lynn 'Tru Plant' Stars versus 'Volvo Cars' Poole Pirates SGB Premiership Final 2nd Leg 10th-October-2018

This post was updated on .
The scene is set for a fairy tale ending of the Premiership season as both teams have it all to ride for. Sixteen points in arrears following the first leg, Kings Lynn will have to create Premiership history, if they are to win their first top tier league title, for never before has a side recovered such a deficit to claim the championship. Meantime the Pirates will be aiming for glory, the perfect way to round off their seventieth anniversary celebrations.

The home side have suffered a blow following the first leg held at Wimborne Road, with Michael Palm-Toft having to concede his place in tonights return leg due to a wrist injury sustained at Poole last Monday evening. Kyle Howarth has been drafted into the Stars squad at reserve as cover, whilst another guest, Adam Ellis, continues to deputise for the injured Niels-Kristian Iversen.

The Pirates remain unchanged from Monday's first leg, with Australian Nick Morris slotting in at number five in place of collar bone victim Brady Kurtz.

Hopefully many of you can join me this evening and cheer the Pirates on via social media, and BT Sports. Feel free to post on the goings on tonight, it would be good to hear from as many folk as possible whilst this enthralling contest reaches it's climax.

Re: Kings Lynn 'Tru Plant' Stars versus 'Volvo Cars' Poole Pirates SGB Premiership Final 2nd Leg 10th-October-2018

A sixteen point lead, equates to a four race advantage in favour of the pirates, meaning that the meeting really goes down to an eleven race final for the Pirates. The old nut of no last places must surely be the team goal other than to protect the lead further by packing in the minor placings.

The loss of Palm-Toft is a huge blow for the Stars, and a great boost for the visitors prospects. I do not believe Kyle Haworth will score as well as the absent Dane, something we must capitalize on.

Focusing on the Pirates side, Nicolai Klindt rides the Norfolk Arena well and was sorely missed when the Pirates were spanked into submission last August, through other riding commitments. Chris Harris is another specialist, so both will be looking for support from their team mates tonight. Kacper and Frederik had off nights during the league campaign at Lynn, so any improvement will be most welcome. With Josh riding into form, and Richie, a former Lynn rider, hitting double figures last time out, I fancy an aggregate overall win for the Pirates tonight.

One final thing.....Peptalk[Steve] will be a pundit of both Radio Solent and Radio Norfolk tonight, and therefore I will be going solo again this evening, taking in the BT Sport feed to produce the updates. Please hold back on posting about heats, riders and general observations until I have produced the heat results......Garry

Good evening SA looking forward to the Pirates winning tonight.

We will need to get at them at the start as we did in the home tie.

It could be a nail biter.

Cheers! Dave.

Totally agree Essex Pirate. We need to treat this meeting as any other, go out and try to win, or at least, stay within the limit of an imaginary bonus point. Less than sixteen points is all we need, and when you consider for a bonus point you need to keep within six points of the home team, I fancy we have the capability to do the latter overall.

Naturally both injured riders for Lynn...Iversen and Palm-Toft are disappointed about missing the final, and are currently being interviewed by BT, but that is a huge bonus for the Pirates in my book. I do not believe Adam Ellis and Kyle Howarth will score as much as their regular riders.

Mmmm iffy restart called for after bunching from the start in heat three. Jorgensen definitely crosses the inside white line. Slight delay

Gates one and three certainly have the advantage in the early stages.

Re: Kings Lynn 'Tru Plant' Stars versus 'Volvo Cars' Poole Pirates SGB Premiership Final 2nd Leg 10th-October-2018

Evening Forty38....

Set ups make the difference from the starts Essex. Riders often set their machines to drive from the start to get an advantage, where as others play the long game hoping to use track conditions for drive. akes a difference, especially when you visit a circuit once or twice a year. It frequently takes a couple of rides to get things right, giving the home side a chance to score valuable points.
